The release of all the Christmas adverts this week has got me thinking about Christmas cooking. Mince pies are fun to make with a toddler and personally, I don't think you can ever have too many in the house over Christmas. In a nice tin or box, they can also make lovely, personal end-of-term Christmas presents for a preschool/nursery teacher or child-minder.
I have split the recipe into 2 parts: the pastry and the construction of the mince pies. So, depending on your toddler and time available, you can decide whether to do both in one go; to do one on one day and one on another; or even do the pastry yourself and the rest with your toddler.
If they like making these, similar recipes from the Tickle Fingers Cookbook they might particularly enjoy are: the Pea & Ham Quiche, Jam Swirl and Mini Fruity Scones.
