What you need
You need very little to cook with a toddler - they can use most of what you have already. There are a few things which can make it easier, safer or more fun: aprons, plastic or stainless steel mixing bowls, smaller soft utensils, silicone cupcake cases, shaped cookie cutters, child-safe knives, child-height tables, flour dredgers, handle apple peelers, handle cheese graters, and non-stick baking mats. To help you source these, scroll down to see a selection of our favourites.
Product Reviews: If you have a baking or cooking product you would like us to review and feature here (if we like it!), please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We will make it clear if any of the products below have been given to us to review and our opinions will be our own.
Aprons; just because the little chefs love them...
Plastic or stainless steel mixing bowls; because glass & toddlers don't mix
Soft, colourful utensils that are easy for little hands
Silicone cupcakes cases; because they are much easier for little chefs to fill
Measuring cups and spoons; because they are easier to measure with than scales
Child-safe knives; for early safe cutting practice
We love Curious Chef products. Unfortunately they are currently only available to customers in the US. You can find some of their products on Amazon in the UK, but you pay a premium. We are trying to persuade them to ship internationally!!!
